Supporting teachers and staff in supporting their students.
Let’s talk about how a team approach to understanding and fulfilling students’ exceptional needs can benefit your entire school.
Some options for your school
Communication Screenings
Every student is unique and communicates in their own way—but about 1 in 10 children have a communication disorder that can indicate life-long health or learning difficulties. Early detection helps families make choices about how to support learners.
Regular hearing screenings are an important part of a child’s wellness.

Rates for Early Intervention Screenings
• Universal hearing and communication screenings for all learners in your learning community are provided at $30* per child ($3600 for 120 children). Each screening takes approximately 10-20 minutes, and a quiet location at your school is required.
• Case management is something Marjorie can support: she contacts families and coordinates with teachers/staff about potential risks, referrals, and collaborates to support children’s full needs at school. Interdisciplinary referrals throughout early childhood can mitigate years of delayed or misaligned interventions.
• Families are always referred to Multnomah Early Childhood Program, or local educational service district, for free evaluations and services, as well as other community providers.

Professional Development
When teachers and staff understand how communication challenges affect students and learn strategies to support their learners' communication needs, the result is a more harmonious learning environment for all students. Marjorie reviews developmental milestones and teaches techniques to support communication.

Response to Intervention (RTI) and Early Intervention
As a community-wide system within the school, RTI supports all students by identifying and delivering the right types and intensities of interventions. RTI systems may include support for literacy, communication, motor, psychology, and behavior. Wordshop can help design and implement a team and system that works for your learners and your school.
Treatment & Evaluation
Communication Evaluations include a detailed report and can be done on-campus (at school) or at Wordshop. Treatments and evaluations are available on-campus, at Wordshop or via home visits.
SLP visits on campus save families' commute time and make SLP support available to all students easily.

Our global economy, however, is founded on inequitable systems that benefit just a few, and I practice Pay from the Heart.
Most simply, Pay from the Heart means that you check with your heart and find a payment that works for you and for us. We want you to feel great about the relationship: what you receive in support, and what you give to sustain us in our giving to you.
Some helpful guidelines for early intervention screenings:
- $20 per screening is our baseline, minimum request.
- $30 It's a strong step from the minimum toward our thriving amount.
- $60 is our sustainable amount; it helps us thrive to give more to you.
Food and shelter: If you live in a country that isn’t on par with the US economy, or are in a financial situation, where spending $100/session might mean you can’t afford food or keep a roof over your head, you are invited with an open heart to choose an amount between $5 and $100. This includes situations where paying our minimum would affect basic quality of life. Come and get the help!
If even $10 would cause dangerous hardship for you, please reach out to us directly.
